| A Self-taught software
package of Advanced Functional Hindi |

LILA
HINDI PRAGYA (Windows Version) is the third in the LILA
series of intelligent self-tutoring software packages, the
other two being LILA
Hindi Prabodh and LILA
Hindi Praveen. The present self-taught software contains
a full-fledged course in Advanced Functional Hindi specially
designed to impart language skill and competence in official
and professional correspondence and transactions in Hindi
in government offices, public sector undertakings, corporations,
banks and other professional institutions. |
The
course has been designed to develop a learner's competence
and skill in drafting and composing various official correspondence
and texts in Hindi like notings, official and demi-official
letters, orders, memoranda, circulars, notifications, reports,
minutes, proceedings, press releases, applications, financial
notes and so on. Learner is also taught the appropriate
use of frequently used administrative and technical terminology
and expressions both in English and Hindi together with
practice exercises. The study material and texts have been
pedagogically designed to provide relevant information about
the structure of the office, various office practices and
procedures, the government file system, work models, distribution
of work amongst departments and sections and the different
types of correspondence, forms and templates used in the
offices. |

Users |

The
package is, in particular, addressed to the employees of
government and semi-government offices, public undertakings,
corporations and banks who are required to acquire a level
of competence in functional Hindi to be able to perform
official transactions in the Official language. This package
can also be used by the teachers as a supplementary aid
or companion which can greatly reduce much of their routine
drudgery of administering exercises, evaluating them, devising
grammatical explanations and narrating the text with standard
pronunciation and intonation in the classroom. |

This
course can be pursued by users who have either completed
the Praveen Hindi course or by those who already have a
working knowledge of spoken and written Hindi of almost
equivalent level. The package can also be used by those
whose mother tongue is Hindi and who despite their general
competence in Hindi, are not confident to perform office
work in Hindi for want of appropriate knowledge of the officialese,
i.e. the language form, expressions and technical terminology
used in official Hindi. Subjective questions have been given
in a separate module. The user is supposed to answer these
questions and show them to a human teacher. |

| Course
Structure |
The basic text used in
the package is based on the PRAGYA syllabus prescribed by
the Department of Official Language for passing this examination.

The
six Language-based Review Lessons in the beginning of the
course mainly focus on selected linguistic and grammatical
material and texts, which serve as a refresher or recapitulatory
material for those who think that their command over the
language is still shaky and need quick revision. The medium
of the course is both Hindi and English. |

Lila-Hindi
Prabodh, which was the first in the LILA series, was launched
by The Honorable President of India on September 14, 1999.
LILA Prabodh is also the recipient of CSI-INFOSYS award
for Best Shrink-wrapped Software Products, 2000.

Hindi Praveen has been launched by the honorable Home Minister
Shri. L.K. Advani on September 14, 2001.
