Enabling Language Learning through Web!

LILA Hindi software was the flagship product of LILA multimedia series of language learning packages.

Web-LILA (Learn Indian Languages through Artificial Intelligence) is a milestone in language learning that opens new vistas for netizens across the globe. Indbazaar.com and C-DAC are all set to launch the Web version of LILA-Hindi, which will evolve a new idiom of language learning on the net. Learning a language will be so much easier and so much exciting. And you need not attend classes or join a language course. A click of the mouse on the Internet will do the trick. This will add a new dimension to the concept of Indian language learning/teaching. It will make language learning more systematic and simpler. Whoever you are, a novice or a scholar, you cannot afford to overlook this revolutionary concept in language learning.

The Applied Artificial Intelligence Group of C-DAC had already developed the LILA-Hindi-Prabodh Compact Discs(CDs) which was launched by the Honourable President of India on September 14, 1999 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Hindi as the official language of the country. The other two CD versions of the packages of LILA-Hindi-Praveen and Pragya are going to be launched soon. These projects were sponsored by Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Currently available as multimedia based self-tutoring packages, LILA imparts fundamental as well as advanced functional knowledge of Hindi. For beginners, it comprises alphabet writing and reading apart from an online dictionary. One can access classified vocabulary of symbols and images from our day-to-day life like birds, animals, fruits, nature, seasons, months and relationships. The second phase of learning involves a full-length second level Hindi course with graded lessons. This segment of our Web Version is helpful for learners of advanced level Hindi.

Web-LILA will be available on Broadband Internet Connectivity as well as on 56 kbps modem. It caters to users with varying levels of skills. The content is arranged to offer basic knowledge for those starting from the scratch and satisfy the requirements of advanced learners as well. The online human teacher will be available to solve your problems, assess the evaluation and suggest the remedial actions. The test papers include normal objective type and fill-in-the-blank type of questions, as well as some descriptive questions also, which will be evaluated by the teacher whereby you get a virtual classroom simulation.
