PARAM MPI Communication Overheads Measurement Suites (P-COMS) (C-DAC MPI Benchmarks) |
|
|
|
|
| |
| P-COMS is set of MPI benchmarks that
measure communication overheads on large message passing
clusters (such as PARAM 10000, PARAM Padma). The benchmarks
have been implemented using MPI (Message Passing Interface)
standard. |
|
The benchmarks measure
the overhead time for MPI Point-to-Point Communication library
calls, Collective Communication library calls, Collective
Communication and Computation library calls for various
message sizes ranging from 0 bytes to 10 Megabytes. This
communication model is very simple and it is advantageous
because it is platform independent. P-COMS can be used to
compare the performance of various MPI library calls on
different message passing clusters.
Important features of
P-COMS are
- Warm-up to reduce the overheads of buffer
initialization
- Automatic selection of processors from
available pool of processors
- Automatic detection of supported MPI
calls, and automatic execution of all the benchmarks
Single executable, Run-time arguments and Flexible ranges
of message size (0 byte - 10 Megabytes)
- Accurate measurement of overhead time
of communication primitives with a precision of up to
microseconds using MPI_Wtime routine
- Graphical representation of results
